So some of you fashionistas probably already know, but for those of you who don’t Victoria Beckham released her new ‘Icon’ collection as of yesterday, February 1st. The chic songstress turned fashion designer took the fashion world by storm when she debuted her own fashion line in 2008 at New York’s Fashion Week and has continued to do so since. To celebrate her meteoric rise in the realm of fashion I have decided to show you guys some of my favourites from her new collection here.
With regards to the Icon range it is not only the dresses themselves that I love, but also the display. To showcase the 15 stylish pieces Beckham used 3 models, with only 3 different pairs of shoes and 3 hairstyles to be seen. Call me somewhat over-compulsive, but this symmetric display, along with the contemporary white backdrop, really pleased my inner perfectionist! Beckham plays with a few different styles of dress and seen below are the 6 which I admire most.
1) A magenta polo shift dress with a black collar and matching semi-attached black sleeves:
This dress has flawless construction, veers away slightly from Beckham’s usual fitted dresses and has a modern twist with the semi-attached sleeves, leading to it being my absolute standout in the collection.
2) A fitted, black mini dress with an A-line skirt:
This mini is, again, beautifully constructed and paired with the A-line detail knocks it out of the park for me. I can definitely see a young starlet rocking this at a fun premiere!
3) A sportswear inspired, knee-length, red polo dress with a black collar and matching semi-attached sleeves:
Reverting back to the skin-tight fit that she is known for, this polo dress is eye-catching due to both the striking red colour and the semi-attached sleeve detail which is seen here for the 2nd time in the collection.
4) Her signature Orthez dress:
This is the original Victoria Beckham dress in her signature cotton-waffle fabric – do I really need to say anything else?
5) A fitted, cross-back, lemon yellow dress:
Although this dress might not be to everyone’s taste, I have to say that I really like it. The lemon yellow certainly make the dress stand out from the rest of the collection and I adore the cross-back detail!
6) A navy, obi-seemed fitted dress:
Although again sticking to her signature fit this dress adds a new dimension with an abstract, ovular neckline with the navy ensuring that it still remains classic and true to the Victoria Beckham brand.
So there you have it – my favourites of Victoria Beckham’s Icon Collection! It has to be said that there were some dresses in the collection which didn’t quite hit the mark with me, but overall Beckham produced some stunners as always and continues traipsing down her fashion path.
