To say that this year’s Oscars have been highly anticipated would be one of the biggest understatements of the century, but like all good things the day finally came and it was certainly worth the wait! This year’s ladies donned numerous stunning gowns with themes of pastels and silver/white bejeweled stunners dominating the carpet. The side-part was also seen on almost every of the Oscar attendees with loose, styled curls proving to be very popular on the night.
Although the red carpet was an overall success there always have to be some who rose above the rest and following on from previous award ceremonies this season I have to give the crown, or hairband in this case, to the always flawless, effortlessly stunning Lupita Nyong’o. Lupita wore a dreamy modern-day-Cinderella dress in a stunning self-entitled ‘Nairobi blue’. The light pastel Prada gown worked beautifully with her shimmering, deep skin-tone and was accessorized to perfection with a sensational gold hairband and gold and blue Fred Leighton jewellery. It has to be said that this season has been fairytale-like for the 31 year old actress who not only knocked everyone out of the park style-wise, but also won the Best Supporting Actress gong at the SAG Awards, Critic’s Choice Awards and last night’s Academy Awards leading to this princess inspired gown to be the perfect choice for the starlet to celebrate her overnight success in.
Three more ladies who stole the show for me were the sexy yet chic Kate Hudson, the edgy, unique Emma Watson and the classic Sandra Bullock. Hudson appeared in a sleek, chic white gown with beautiful embellished jewels draped down the dress and a deep, sexy plunge counterbalanced by a striking, elegant caplet adding an extra touch of style and sophistication to the look. Watson on the other-hand chose a look which is somewhat more off the beaten track for an Oscars outfit, but this is why I love it. The controversial Vera Wang dress is composed of a stone-grey metallic top followed by a ravishing sheer effect skirt. This paired with her messy tied back hair and a deep red lip fully completes the bold fashion choice. Finishing off my best dressed ladies is Sandra Bullock in a classic, sweetheart necklined, statuesque navy gown which paired with the aforementioned side-part, loose, styled curls and gorgeous make-up leads to Bullock being yet another knock-out on this year’s Oscar red carpet.
Finally, to finish off my best dressed for the 2014 Academy Awards, I am going to leave you guys with some other ladies who looked stunning on the night, but didn’t quite reach perfection so just failed to hit the same heights as the stunners above:
As always, let me know what you guys think, especially if you agree or disagree!
