Landofpod – Visuals.

As you guys know, writing posts is a huge passion of mine. Unlike other bloggers, I do not pride myself on taking pictures of me or others, more so on my writing skills and being relatable in my viewpoints/opinions. This, of course, takes a lot of time – between finding appropriate pictures, writing, re-writing, editing and proof-reading – so naturally, I can’t update posts on a daily basis. Something which I do love though is pictures. Simply pictures. Alone, with no caption, no opinions – essentially standing on their own. What you may not know is that this is something that I also do. On my tumblr I blog/reblog pictures daily which grab my attention, which hold my interest and which undoubtedly, I fall in love with. I find this to be an inspiring, much easier, faster way to keep in touch with fashion and also a way to do it on a daily basis.

For this reason, I am doing a post based solely on some of my favourite pictures from my Tumblr blog : http://landofpod.tumblr.com/. I want you guys to check this out, follow it if you have a tumblr of your own and if not, then just visit it daily, weekly or monthly, just to see what inspires me and will hopefully ignite some fashion flares in your own heart. To end my introduction, below you will find some of my most beloved pictures that I have posted in the past month alone. Have a look, enjoy and tell me how you feel about this other aspect of my blogging:

Summer Style Funk Up – Male Fashion: 3.1 Philip Lim S/S2014

If like me you are stuck in a style slump and don’t know what exactly you need to inject into your summer wardrobe for that extra bit of oomph then Philip Lim is the man for you. Lately I’ve been buying copious amounts of clothes, yet when I dissect my purchases everything seems to be the same which is why I am now thanking the Lord himself for allowing Mr. Lim to come into my life! Lim’s collection is full to the brim with cool, suave clothes which combine the perfect amount of fashion and sass for the upcoming summer season. From coats to sleeveless shirts, pants to shorts and knitwear to shades, Lim has everything covered for every type of summer weather imaginable and every piece is just as fierce as the last.

What I perhaps love most about the collection is the brilliance that Lim masters in pushing the fashion envelope while still keeping within the realms of normality and keeping the mass market more than happy. Now follow me, if you please, while I bring you on a trip through this spring/summer hit and give you some wondrous commentary along the way.

Lim begins his collection with an array of sleeveless tops, checked pants, leather, fringe and a speckled, paint-effect pattern, all of which are gorgeous. My favourite of these pieces/techniques, however, definitely has to go to the speckled paint-effect, that and the fringe! These are two aspects which can easily be added into anyone’s wardrobe yet are subtle. They also hold their own and give a distinction that will make people look at you twice, however, making them the perfect wardrobe addition. Check them out here:

(I also LOVE this sleeveless shirt! Yes it’s a bit risque, but the cut-out holes are so unique and would be amazing on someone who can pull them off).

Continuing on, Lim introduces the best part of his collection, for me. Namely, his scintillating use of blues and greens. He uses the most stunning colours here and utilizes them to their utmost with the felt effect, shiny fabric and leather jacket being my climax of his entire collection.

Image

This coat is just so beautiful, and with this shorts it is perfection!

This is possibly the best look for me. I absolutely adore the top and if I could afford it my Visa card would be getting a serious hit right about now!

Image

This jacket just oozes the perfect combination of cool and funk.

Tailoring then comes into play with some more plain, chill pieces which are all about the styling. It’s important to remember that no-one expects you to wear exactly what is on the runway with the shirt/short combo below being a perfect example. The look is gorgeous and cool, yet preppy at the same time and although oversized it can be pared back into a more demure look for us mere mortals to wear. I do absolutely love the extremity shown by the look however!

Continuing on Lim goes for some more bold colour choices which might not necessarily be to your taste, but they definitely continue on the path of funking it up and making your wardrobe that bit more desirable (I do like the jacket quite a lot though)!

Finally, Lim closes the show with one of the most prominent themes of men’s 2014 summer fashion… Yes, you’ve probably guessed correctly – floral prints! What he doesn’t do, however, is sport the generic, usual floral looks. Instead he maintains his cool edge by accessorizing his florals to perfection. He does so by making sure that no two looks are alike (with the exception of the last two). By varying his looks from floral tops with coloured pants, floral pants with plain tops, floral shorts with tops and vice versa, Lim illustrates to us the multitude of ways in which we can wear this look and has an option for every taste. I honestly love every single one of his floral looks, but my favourites would have to be the florals paired with black, studded pieces and the final two looks which showcase a floral overload with floral tops and bottoms all in the one look, making for the perfect fashion statement. Have a look at these terrific triumphs below:

Favourite Suits from NYFW Fall/Winter 2014.

For all of you fashion forward, style inspired men out there here is a list of my favourite suit looks from New York Fashion Week. From sporty to stylish and geek chic to punk all of these suits have something special which catches the eye and makes them absolute knock-outs in each of their designers’ collections.Have a look below:

Dolce & Gabbana:

Proving the D&G truly is the king of style the brand presented numerous expensive, red carpet suits, for very important occasions which showed class, style elegance and power:

Corneliani displayed a more casual line of suits focusing more-so on the stylish business man who takes his fashion just as importantly as he takes his job. Seen below are 2 day-time looks which would make sure that both all eyes are on you and that you are taken seriously in the workplace:

Gucci:

In line with Coreliani’s work Gucci displayed this gorgeous dusted blue suit and neutral shirt which would work beautifully on a younger man trying to kick-start his career while maintaining his flare for style:

Image

Michael Bastian:

The final designer that I am going to discuss which presented this classy, businessman attire is the ever-amazing Michael Bastian. For more on Bastian’s collection have a look at one of my previous posts: http://wp.me/p2ZdX8-kR :

Bottega Veneta:

For a more casual, day-time suit look which does not necessarily have to be office wear Bottega Veneta is definitely the designer for you. He portrayed layed-back chic with an array of intriguing deep green outfits:

Sample of Favourite Men’s Looks for Fall/Winter 2014 Collections.

Image

I know that a lot of men out there are seeking to let their inner style king emerge, but are a bit too shy to go all out for fear of heckles from the other ‘lads’ so to keep in spirit with this I am going to ease you guys in gently with a post mainly showing some of my favourite looks from this year’s Fall/Winter 2014 Collections with just a little bit of text. To add to my transition into the male fashion realm I am going to begin with some more high-street brands and ease my way into the high-end world.

Although I haven’t had much time to research, some of the male looks which have caught my eye the most are from brands Bespoken,  Bosideng, David Hart and Michael Bastian. Each of these designers have proven to produce stylish, fashion-forward designs without going too far out of the box which is something that I like to see in men’s fashion. So here it goes, have a look at my men’s favourites based on what I have seen thus far from including looks from New York Fashion Week:

Bespoken:

Image

Although more high-street than I usually include in posts, Bespoken produced classy-casual with ease and has some looks which could be pulled off by the every-day fashionable man whilst introducing some play with accessories.

Bosideng:

Image

I absolutely love the 2 above looks! The suit of the left shows an emerging trend with the medium-lined box patterned grey suit and is paired perfectly with the navy shirt and tie matched with the brown-red shoes which prevent it from being too dull. Alongside the gorgeous suit we see an effortless day look with the short-legged yellow pant really brightening up the grey knit jumper.

Image

Seen above are 2 suits which, again, carry on the stylish, slate grey theme whist also introducing another – red suit shoes! I am obsessed with this new look which can be seen in a multitude of Fall/Winter collections from high-street to high-end and is a trend which I myself will definitely be following.

Image

Finally from Bosideng, we have another grey suit paired with an ordinary jumper and light brown take on the Oxford shoe showing that not only can you dress up in suits, but you can also dress them down somewhat for a more informal, yet still stylish, event.

David Hart:

Image

Although only showing 1 look from Hart’s collection this has to be one of my favourites thus far. In my opinion the scarf paired with the red suit jacket and back pants is gorgeous and yet again it incorporates my most prized trend of the season – the red Oxford.

Michael Bastian:

From starting with high street we are going to end with designer luxury from Michael Bastian. Bastian effortlessly showcased cool, class and sophistication in his collection with layering, accessories and quality being seen throughout the show. Here are a few of my most desired looks:

Image

Again highlighting the grey and red combo this polished look changes things up a bit with some golden mocassins.

Image

Cool, stylish, effortless. From the hat to the belt to the 2 shirts… I don’t think that there is anything for me to say.

Image

Incorporating accessorizing yet again this looks just nails effortless chic!

Image

To finish things off we have a gorgeous, show-stopping outfit. Yes there is a lot going on and yes this might look a slight bit odd on someone walking down the street, but you have to admit that every element of this outfit is exquisite. This is an example of what layering and accessorizing are all about and just how good they can look when done right.

OK, so that’s it for my 1st ever men’s fashion post and I certainly hope that you guys liked it!
